Exchange Meal Plan

The food we consume are divided into six categories. These 6 different categories are vegetables, fruits, starches, meat, milk and fats. For this plan, you will be given a food list so you will be able to see which category a certain food will fall into.

The Exchange Meal Plan allows for a small amount of carbohydrate exchanges for every meal and you can use them as you wish. For instance, you can exchange 3/4 cup of cereal to a half slice of english muffin with the same amount of carbs. The food for carbohydrate exchanges should share similar contents of fats, carbohydrates, proteins and calories. This plan offers you flexibility, allowing you to trade one food from the list to a similar food.
