A Sweetener Found in Tequila May Be Good for Diabetes

How Does Agavin Work?

Agavin is made from chains of individual molecules of sugar. For reasons only known to medical experts, this means that it cannot be digested. This is actually a good thing, because once it is ingested, it cannot be broken down into blood glucose. Yet, it still contains a sweet taste, although it is not as sweet as the agave nectar. This is the reason why anyone who drinks tequila never commented about its sweetness.

A group of researchers from Mexico discovered that agavin may actually have some benefits to those with diabetes, especially Type 2.
