3. Muscle aches
Muscle aches are more commonly found in older adults when they have the Epstein-Barr virus. The muscle aches you feel are caused by the havoc the Epstein-Barr virus is causing to your body. Viruses are unable to replicate on their own as a result the virus tricks healthy cells to gain access to its DNA. The DNA is replaced by the virus’s information and the host cell continues to produce viruses until the host cell sometimes dies.
Once the cells die, your white blood cells begin to detect what is happening and start to react to prevent and repair the damage. Your white blood cells release different chemicals that causes your body to send more blood to the infected area causing swelling, redness and pain. Taking an anti-inflammatory medication should help with this symptom.
