4. Shortness of Breath

Shortness of breath is also a common sign and symptom of kennel cough. The feeling of not being able to breathe normally is caused by the inflammation and infection existing in the patient’s airflow or windpipe. When these parts are swollen and infected, the oxygen flow is blocked and is unable to go in and out of the lungs properly.

This particular symptom can also branch out to other signs such as fatigue, confusion, and loss of appetite. If it is left untreated, especially for patients with serious conditions and old age, shortness of breath can result in sudden death.
