2. Allergies
Allergies are the most common causes of sinus infection. The sinusitis that is due to allergies is common during early childhood because of the child’s exposure to pollen, dust, animal dander, and smoke. Those with a family history of allergic sinusitis are often at high risk of developing this condition, either chronic or acute. Chronic sinusitis can last up to 8 weeks while acute sinusitis only lasts for 4 weeks.
When a person has allergic sinusitis, he or she can experience postnasal drip that can last for more than 2 weeks. Other symptoms are itchy nose and throat, insomnia, and other sleep problems.
