3. Signs and Symptoms
Some of the most common symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis are increased thirst and urination, generalized fatigue, weakness, and malaise, or a feeling of discomfort. Other symptoms are vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain that can get severe, loss of appetite, confusion, coma, and perspiration.
When the diabetic ketoacidosis occurs due to ongoing infection, some of the symptoms are chills, fever, breathlessness, coughing, chest pain, joint pain, and palpitations. It has also been observed that the patient will feel ill, have dry skin, mucous membranes, labored respiration, and will feel cold. The patient will also have acetone breath odor that’s somewhat similar to a fruity smell.
