Fresh fruits are always better than canned or dried ones which contain high level of sugar. You may consume unsweetened fruit juice, however, you need to exercise portion control. This is because the amount of carbohydrate in fresh fruit juice is actually not far from what you would find in soft drinks. A cup of fresh fruit juice is made with several servings of fruit. Hence you would be consuming the a lot more sugar than you would if you were to eat the fruit itself. Furthermore, you lose the beneficial fiber content from the fruit if you were only consuming its juice.
Current medical research shows that there are still fruits that a diabetes patients should avoid. Experts also recommend consuming all other fruits in moderation. If you are not sure whether a certain fruit is safe for you or not, it is best to talk to your doctor or to a dietician.
