11. Cold or clammy skin
Having cold and clammy skin is a sign the patient has reached shock. This is likely caused by poor blood circulation due to the further deterioration of the illness. The lack of blood circulation causes the patient’s skin to look blue, clammy and cold to the touch. At this stage, it is likely that the patient’s illness has developed into Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS). DSS is very dangerous and without proper medical care a patient will die. This is because when the circulatory system fail to deliver blood and oxygen to organs, it can result in failure of major organ such as the liver, lungs and heart.
