7. Severe joint and muscle pain

Pain in joints and muscles are also signs of being infected with the virus. There are two types of pain — acute reactive arthritis, which occurs while suffering from the fever, and chronic joint pain afterwards. Both types of pain can be treated with paracetamol and simple exercises. Those with vitamin deficiencies may have more severe and intense pain.

Joint pain can last up to 3 weeks after but some report joint pain lasting up to 2 years after their recovery. This long span is more common in females and those with vitamin E, D and B12 deficiencies.
