3. A Red Rash

Similar in look to a sunburn, a red rash will develop due to the infection and bacteria in your body. The rash associated with TSS covers the majority of the body. There are no raised bumps with this rash. If touched, the red will turn white immediately. However, redness of the lips, eyes and tongue may also develop. The redness on the tongue will be considered ‘Strawberry Tongue’.

The rash will also cover the palms and the soles of the feet. For individuals with darker skin, the rash will be hard to see on the body, however, the eyes, tongue and soles of the feet along with the palms will be evident.
