10. Pain in the Buttocks

Having pain in the buttocks can also be a sign and symptom of spinal stenosis. When narrowing of the spinal canal happens on the lumbar spine located in the lower back, lumbar stenosis occurs. The nerves in this part of the spine are responsible for the sensations felt in the buttocks and legs. If these particular nerves are stressed and compressed, there is a possibility for the patient to have a stabbing, sharp, or heavy pain in the lower extremities, especially in the buttocks.

Although having a tensed and painful sensation around the buttocks is a non-specific symptom of spinal stenosis, it is still best to consult your doctor as it may also indicate other illnesses.
