5. Detachment
Unlike the normal belief that post-traumatic stress disorder is only caused by extremely stressful events such as war exposure, molestation during childhood, and sexual abuse, there are also a lot of cases that are results of traumatic relationships or interaction with people. PTSD patients with this specific cause of the disorder often refuse to socialize with others.
Subconsciously, it is a defense mechanism to avoid the same emotions and situations they have been through before. This blocks the sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder to have an intimate connection with other people thus a romantic relationship or even close friendships is hard to establish.
