2. Sore Throat

Another symptom of hand foot and mouth disease which most will encounter is a sore throat. This is also one of the initial symptoms of this disease. The fever is usually followed by a sore throat, especially if the disease is due to the coxsackievirus. Just like fever, sore throat is common in various types of illnesses, including other types of viral infection.

When the patient has a sore throat, he or she will feel irritation and scratchiness in the throat that it can be difficult to swallow food. Once the HFMD is treated, the sore throat will resolve on its own.
