3. Swelling
One of the most common significant symptoms of ear infection is the swelling of the affected ear. Swelling happens due to the presence of constant pressure inside the ear, which can lead to discomfort and is often noticeable in and around the ear area. As the swelling intensifies, a hot sensation is felt around the ear. This is a clear indication that the patient is indeed suffering from an ear infection.
The hot sensation can also cause redness to appear as a result of the skin irritation. Washing the ear is highly discouraged because it will only worsen the condition.
