7. Scaly Skin

The fungi present in an athlete’s foot usually eat up the moisture of the feet, which leads to extreme dryness and scaling. Scaling is characterized by having a dry, thick, and sometimes yellowish hard skin that may or may not easily peel off. The scaly appearance of the skin can be compared to that of a reptile.

Although scaly skin does not usually cause pain, having it can be uncomfortable and difficult. Moisturizers can lessen the scaling of your feet but it is important to treat the underlying cause, which is the fungal infection that is happening underneath the layer of the skin.
