6. Fever
Fever is also a symptom of appendicitis. It is a body’s defense response to the attack.
Through the process of dispatching white blood cells to the now-inflamed appendix, the body alerts pyrogens in the bloodstream that there may be a problem. Pyrogens then work to raise the body’s temperature in a well-orchestrated physiological response designed to kill off potential invaders that could succumb to temperature increase.
The fever that occurs with appendicitis usually ranges from 99-102 fahrenheit. However, if treatment is not quickly sought, it can go higher. The body will continue to kill off the invaders with heat until the invader is eradicated.
