3. Nasal Polyps
Another cause of sinus infection is Nasal polyps which are non-cancerous bumps growing along the lining of the nasal passage. These tiny bumps are soft and painless and usually hang down like grapes or teardrops. Nasal polyps are usually due to chronic inflammation resulting from allergies, drug sensitivity, asthma, and recurrent infections.
The size of the nasal polyps will vary. Nasal polyps that are small in size will not show any signs, however, the larger ones can block the nasal passage which can lead to various issues, including difficulty in breathing. This can also lead to a loss of smell and recurring infection in the upper respiratory tract.
