8. Swollen tonsils
Swollen tonsils will follow as a symptom after your throat becomes sores. Your tonsils may develop a whitish, yellowish covering. Gargling salt water 3 to 5 times a day, taking over-the-counter pain medication, drinking warm tea or soup are all things that may help alleviate the discomfort of swollen tonsils.
9. Skin rash
A skin rash as a result of coming in contact with the Epstein-Barr virus is not a frequent symptom. The rash will consist of pinkish-red spots on the skin, similar to how a rash from measles will look. The rash should normally go away once your body has completely fought off the infection. The rash can sometimes be itchy, taking an antihistamine and a topical steroid can help relieve the itchiness.
