4. Pain behind the eyes
The exact reason for the pain in the eyes is not exactly understood. There are multiple causes include viral factors, immune mediation, capillary leaks, stress, and hemorrhage. At the lowest platelet count and when it begins to rise, eye pain is classically reported. The most common complaint is the blurring of vision. Conservative care up to aggressive steroid therapy with immune modulation has been used with no clear consensus on what is effective and is not. Recovery from blurred vision and pain can be partial or full depending on the time scale.
The extensive spectrum of possible causes should further clinical professionals to inspect into the virus. The true incidence of eye involvement needs to be further researched to fully understand the reasons and select proper treatments.
