2. Persistent vomiting

Another common sign of dengue fever is vomiting and retching which last for days. Vomiting can be very dangerous as it is persistent in this disease. Persistent vomiting can be categorized as having 3 or more vomiting episodes within a 12 hour period. Over the course of the illness vomiting can last 3-7 days.

Constant vomiting for the duration of the illness without seeking proper treatment can result in dehydration. This can lead to further symptoms such as headaches and body weakness. Extreme dehydration cases would require hospitalisation where patient would be placed under an IV treatment. It is best to see a doctor at the first sign of vomiting to prevent dehydration which furthers weaken the body.
