10. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS is one of the leading causes of abdominal pain. This is a condition that affects the large intestine and may also come with other underlying symptoms, such as bloating and cramps. It can also trigger changes in a person’s bowel movements and could make the patient suffer from constipation or diarrhea. The causes of IBS are still unknown and this makes it difficult to find effective treatments for this condition.
Over the recent years, several less-related symptoms have also been observed in people with IBS. These are fatigue, depression, anxiety, and insomnia. In some cases, passing excess gas or bowel movement could partially relieve the abdominal pain brought about by IBS. However, more long-term medical solutions may be required to avoid flare-ups of symptoms.
