3. Neck Discomfort and Voice Hoarseness

As the thyroid glands are located near the throat, one sign of thyroid problem is neck discomfort. This can include painful and uncomfortable movement of the neck, difficulty in eating or drinking liquids, or a bulging Adam’s apple. Thyroiditis or swelling of the thyroid glands may also lead to changes in your voice such as hoarseness or huskiness. When this condition worsens, it may develop into a goiter.

Goiter starts with an inflamed neck that is usually painless; however, if the condition remains untreated, it may start to feel sore and distressing. If you notice these symptoms, check with your health provider, as some cases require surgery to prevent it from being cancer.
