4. Vomiting
This is usually evident with staph infections which involve food. It can also be accompanied with stomach cramps, and chills. Food poisoning caused by staph usually starts to affect a person within 30 minutes to 8 hours after the ingestion of the contaminated food with the staph toxin. However, in most cases the symptoms do not last more than a day.

If you or your loved one is experiencing continued vomiting for more than a day, you should see a doctor immediately. Persistent vomiting can cause severe dehydration, and it can be life threatening. Severe dehydration cases usually involve hospitalization and IV treatment.
