3. Vomiting
Another symptom of salmonellosis is vomiting. Shortly after nausea, the patient will start to vomit. This takes place when the body starts working to expel the salmonella bacteria that have invaded. Vomiting happens because of the increase in stomach acid.
Normally, doctors will advise people to vomit and not suppress it. The symptom is normal as it is a natural reaction of the body to expel the bacteria before the infection enters the intestine. This helps to minimize the severity and duration of salmonellosis if it is successful. However, bear in mind that constant vomiting can lead to severe dehydration. Therefore, if you felt dizzy and your vomiting persists, it is best to seek immediate medical attention.
