That part in our body where our arms meet with our shoulders consists of a group of tendons and muscles known as the rotator cuff. The rotator cuff gives strength to the joints, allowing you to freely move your arms and shoulders. However, these muscles are at risk of tearing, a condition known as torn rotator cuff.

The torn rotator cuff can happen to anyone, usually due to injuries. It can be painful and can come with several other symptoms. Here are some of the most common signs and symptoms of rotator cuff injury.

1. Pain When Reaching Overhead

Our long arms are very useful to us in so many ways. They help us to perform several tasks, such as grabbing food when eating, holding the rails when climbing steep stairs, and many more. Without our arms, we will not be able to perform a lot of necessary tasks. However, because the arms are some of the most used parts in our body, they are prone to injury and can lead to conditions like torn rotator cuff.

One of the most common sign and symptom of torn rotator cuff is feeling pain or discomfort when trying to reach something overhead. They do not necessarily need to be holding something heavy to feel the pain. The mere act of extending the hands will already cause pain.
