4. Flaky or Scaly Skin

Ringworm can also be identified by having a flaky or scaly skin. In some cases, the affected area may scale thickly and appear yellowish in color. It may also leave patches and uneven skin tone even after healing.

The ring-like border of the rash usually scales and grows outwards as the infection develops. Extreme flaking usually occurs in areas of the body with thicker skin such as the bottom of the feet, palms, and scalp. It may be inviting to scratch or pick the scaly part of the skin but doing this can only make the infection worse and spread out even more.
