Another PCOS symptom is sudden thinning and loss of hair. In most cases, women attribute their excessive hair loss to a new shampoo or hair care product they are using. However, sudden hair loss is also common in women with PCOS. In fact, some patients will notice a significant amount of hair accumulating on their pillows when they wake up from sleep.

Although excessive hair loss may seem surprising, this condition may be due to the fact of having an excess level of male hormone androgens, which includes testosterone. It can lead to undesirable hair loss on the head especially at the front of your scalp. Other than thinning of hair on the head, androgen can also cause masculine hair growth on unwanted places such as the face, neck, chest and stomach.
