2. Irregular Menstrual Bleeding
Polycystic ovary syndrome is triggered by the production of too much testosterone, which then leads to the disruption of the hormonal balance in the body. As a result, cysts will start to develop and will prevent the ovaries from releasing eggs. This will also interrupt the patient’s menstrual period, which explains why irregular menstruation is an indication of PCOS.
In some cases, the period will become irregular, infrequent, and prolonged. Unfortunately, this PCOS symptom usually goes unnoticed when it happens to young women and teenagers since it is pretty common for the menstrual cycle to be irregular at a young age.
