Parkinson’s disease can also lead to constipation, although this is a symptom that is often overlooked by medical experts. Since the disease affects the nervous system, which is responsible for controlling the muscle movements, there is a good chance that it can affect the bladder and the bowels.
Therefore, some patients will find it hard to defecate or will suffer from constipation. The condition can make the bowel to lose its sensitivity and it will not be able to move efficiently. This can slow down the process of digestion, which impedes the movement of waste, and thus, constipation will take place.
