8. Trouble Sleeping
Having sleeping problems is also a symptom of Parkinson’s disease. It is very common for patients with the disease to keep on tossing and turning even if they are deeply asleep. Sometimes, if the turning gets extreme, they will fall off the bed and this keeps them from getting a night of restful sleep. It can also lead to injury and can further worsen the symptoms.
Almost 50% of people who have Parkinson’s disease have difficulty sleeping mainly because their muscles do not relax completely during bedtime. This condition also increases their risk of leg cramps, which exacerbate their condition. Some patients will also try to act out their dreams by moving their limbs while sleeping.
