Diagnosis
Your doctor will order multiple tests to determine the diagnosis. These tests may include an MRI, a CT scan, and electrocochleography and possibly a few others. The treatment for Meniere’s varies according to the symptoms. Most often, each symptom will be treated, rather than all in one. The treatments may include, medicines for nausea or diarrhea, diuretics to remove excess fluids, steroids, if your physician feels it is due to your underactive immune system.
There are other options for the other symptoms that he or she will treat to make this easier on you. Hearing aids may be beneficial, as well as therapy for balance problems. At times, devices placed in the ear canal will help with fluid drainage. Your doctor may also determine that you need surgery to help with the issue. These surgeries are meant to drain excess fluid or to impair the nerves that send messages to the brain for balance.
