5. Dry cough
An extremely dry cough is another common sign of measles. Some people would refer to this as “hacking cough”. This is because the cough will appear after the rashes appears, it will not be enough in its own right to come up with a clear diagnosis.
Since coughs can be due to several other possible causes, additional evidence is needed before it can be concluded that the patient has measles. The doctor may suspect you of having measles. However, they will have a clear indication that the cough is indeed due to measles only when the rashes starts to appear.
