5. Hypogonadism

Hypergonadism is also a result of hormonal imbalance due to liver cirrhosis. This condition happens due to a severe lack of sex hormones in a patient. While hypergonadism can happen in both males and females, it is usually more common in males. This condition will cause the genitals to shrink and can negatively affect a patient’s libido.

In some cases, hypergonadism can lead to a significantly reduced function of the testicles. Excessive alcohol drinking can also have a negative impact on the testosterone levels, mainly because alcohol causes the stress hormone cortisol to increase, which in turn, decreases the production of testosterone.
