9. Meningitis
One of the most dangerous symptoms of kennel cough is meningitis. It usually occurs when the infection becomes severe. Meningitis is a medical condition characterized by an infected meninx or meninges, a membranous lining of the brain and spine. When the infection in kennel cough spreads to the upper respiratory passages including the ears and nose, there is a huge possibility for it to scatter to the brain as well since these are located very close to each other.
Meningitis should be treated as a medical emergency as it may cause rapid death. If you experience sudden fever, headache, confusion, and dizziness, call your doctor immediately as it may indicate meningitis.
