10. Septicaemia
Another dangerous symptom of kennel cough is Septicaemia, blood poisoning. An acute case of kennel cough caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica may result in a bacterial infection which can spread throughout the body including in the bloodstream. Having an infection in the blood may cause poisoning that leads to sepsis, a life-threatening situation that may cause total organ failure and death.
There are different telling signs that you are experiencing septicaemia which include diarrhea, fever, rapid heartbeat, and discoloration of the skin. If you observe these symptoms, do not neglect it and contact your medical provider immediately to avoid poisoning or septic shock.
