8. Weight Loss
Some patients with HFMD can lose a significant amount of weight. However, this is not entirely due to the disease. Instead, this is due to the loss of appetite, which is one of the most common symptoms of the disease.
As mentioned, some patients with hand, foot, and mouth disease will find it difficult to eat due to sore throat and the presence of mouth sores. They can also experience a loss of appetite, coupled with nausea and vomiting. However, the patient’s weight will often go back to normal once the patient’s normal appetite is regained. This will happen after the virus has passed through and the patient has recovered from the disease.
