4. Sore Throat
Similar to most virus infections, fifth disease also causes sore throat. Sore throat is characterized by having a painful and uncomfortable sensation along the pharynx and windpipe. Patients sometimes suffer from an itchy or irritated throat that is worsened by eating, drinking, and even talking.
Different viruses are the usual culprits for sore throat, which is why this symptom alone is not enough to diagnose the fifth disease and is often overlooked. Although it usually heals on its own, most people who suffer from sore throat consume medicated candies or drops that help produce saliva, lubricate the affected area, and alleviate irritation or pain. If this symptom persists, it is better to consult your doctor for proper medication.
