3. Fever

Fever is also a non-specific symptom of fifth disease. Fever is the rise of body temperature commonly caused by its response to eliminate a bacteria or a virus that is infecting different systems of the body. Studies suggest that an increase in temperature helps the immune system to fight infection even harder. Fever is sometimes accompanied by chills and convulsions if the temperature is extremely higher than usual.

Children who are experiencing fever as one of the fifth disease symptoms may also experience febrile seizures if not treated immediately. Someone who has a fever will be hot to touch, may turn red, and may encounter excessive sweating.
