3. Voice Hoarseness
One of the most obvious symptoms of esophageal cancer which are often neglected is having a rough or hoarse voice. The change in the voice can be described as croaky or husky especially when coughing. This situation is caused by the malignant tumor in the throat area called the larynx.
When a tumor is present, the periodic nerves in the larynx that is responsible for creating the sound of the voice is compressed and results in hoarseness of the voice. Having a raspy voice is a vital symptom that something is not functioning properly on one’s voice or windpipe.
