4. Irritation
The presence of ear irritation is an obvious sign of ear infection. This is due to the buildup of bacteria, which can also make the skin turn red and will make the patient feel irritated. While it’s tempting to scratch the affected area, patients should not do so or this will lead to bleeding and will make the infection even worse. Also, the patient will experience a feeling of fullness in the affected area, as a result of the swelling of the ear canal. This can further tempt the patient to scratch but should be highly discouraged so as not to exacerbate the infection.
