5. Fever

As with most infections, fever is also a sign and symptom of chickenpox. In fact, it’s one of the most common symptoms of this infection. And the more rashes the patient has, the higher the fever. Fever is also one of the prodromal signs found in patients with chickenpox. Prodromal signs refer to flu-like symptoms that will usually come out before the rashes start appearing.

However, prodromal signs are non-specific and do not usually indicate the presence of varicella-zoster virus infection. But these signs are a clear indication that there’s a virus in the bloodstream. The fever that’s associated with chicken pox is generally low grade. But if the temperature of the patient will go more than 103°F, then this could indicate that there’s a secondary bacterial infection and immediate medical assistance must be sought.
