9. Diarrhea
Diarrhea is when the patient would experience three or more loose bowel movements in a given day. Extreme cases of diarrhea can lead to irritable behavior, dehydration, loss of skin color, decreased urination, tachycardia, decrease in responsiveness, and unconsciousness. Diarrhea is either bacterial or viral. Sometimes, it is due to a parasitic infection in the intestines.
Some other causes of diarrhea are Celiac disease, lactose intolerance, IBS, hyperthyroidism, and more. If the patient has bowel obstruction, diarrhea can still occur even if there’s no obstruction in the gastrointestinal tract. This is a result of the leaking liquid stool surrounding the partial obstruction.
