8. Lack of Eye Contact
One of the early signs of Asperger syndrome is the lack of eye contact. Thus, if a child tends to avoid eye contact at an early age, he or she may have Asperger syndrome. Since social cues will not come naturally for people with Asperger syndrome, which explains the lack of eye contact.
A child that has this disorder will not look at the person to whom he or she is interacting with. Such avoidance could interfere with the child’s ability to comprehend non-verbal signs, which other people can easily understand especially in a social setting.
