10. Delayed Motor Skill Development
Even though it is not common for kids with Asperger syndrome to have delayed motor skill development, some of them will manifest stilted movements that can inhibit the proper development of their motor skills.
Issues on hand-eye coordination will make it even harder for them to catch or throw a ball. Some kids will have a hard time holding a pencil and others won’t be able to ride a bike. They will also experience a decreased proprioception, which refers to the ability to determine where their body lies, thus, affecting their balance. The best thing that parents can do to help their child overcome issues with motor skills is to let them practice doing the activities several times and to be more patient and encouraging.
