For these reasons, knowing the signs of appendicitis is very important. One obvious sign that you could have appendicitis is a pain, near the umbilicus, which will radiate lower. Patients will invariably complain of pain in their lower right side. This is the first sign that there is trouble brewing with the appendix. It is easy to ignore this initial pain, as many may think it is gas.
However, if this pain persists, seeking medical treatment within 24-hours of onset is critically important. The acute type of appendicitis has a series of symptoms that appear within hours of onset and, in most cases, are so collectively alarming, they cannot be ignored.
On the other hand, there is also a chronic form of appendicitis where pain comes and goes, and this can go on for many years.
