9. Microwaved Popcorn
Popcorn makes a great snack, and if you cut down on salt and butter, it’s even good for you. However, microwaved popcorn comes in a bag coated with a non-stick substance that breaks down into a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid.
A 1993 study found that workers in a popcorn manufacturing facility showed a 93 percent rate of carcinogenic mortality. It was once thought that inhaling the fumes from the bag caused lung malignant growths, but has since been found to cause a lung disease called diacetyl. It is highly recommended that we pop our pocorn the old-fashioned way on the stove.
