10 Foods That Cause Cancer

6. Farm Raised Salmon

Rich in heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, salmon has long been recommended as part of a healthy diet. The snag to that is there are two types of salmon: wild and farmed. Most of the salmon on the shelves today is farmed. It’s cheaper and easier to find. It’s bad for us, though.

Toxins like PCBs, dioxin, dieldrin, and toxaphene enter the fish through its feed. The feed comes from ground fish parts that have been contaminated through industrial and domestic runoff into the oceans. The farmed salmon, and to a smaller extent wild salmon are exposed to carcinogen-causing toxins. These are linked to several types of malignant growths including breast and prostate growths.

Stick with wild salmon for a healthier diet.
