5. Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis is also one of the sinus infection causes. Cystic fibrosis is a condition that affects the pancreas, lungs, liver, kidneys, and intestines. This is a genetic disorder that is usually a result of the mutation of the CFTR or Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator. When this happens, the chloride with our cells is unable to move the normal way from the cell’s inner side to the surface. This results in very sticky and thick mucus.
Both chronic and acute sinus infections are a common cause of cystic fibrosis complications that can trigger several symptoms. In some cases, this can worsen existing lung disease. People with cystic fibrosis could suffer from inflammation and infection of the sinuses.
