4. Sore Throat

Since the tonsils are located near the throat, the patient will most likely develop a sore throat with tonsillitis. In fact, sore throat is a common symptom of this condition. The inflammation will cause mild to severe pain, most especially in the area around the tonsils.

The sore throat can result in a raw and scratchy feeling at the back of the throat and may also spread into the surrounding areas near the tonsils. In most cases, it often clears up on its own within a week or so. But there are also cases where the sore throat can turn into pharyngitis, a condition that refers to the inflammation of the pharynx.
