Why Does Diabetes Affect Lung Function
Scientists are not exactly sure how lung functions and diabetes are related. Some experts have said that this may be due to inflammation. As you know, diabetes can trigger inflammation in all parts of your body including your organs. This is because, if you have diabetes, you will have a higher level of inflammatory compound. Hence, some believe that inflammation is the cause of the weaker lung function in diabetes patients.
Obesity may also be the reason behind this. It has been found that obese people tend to have lower lung function and are more prone to diabetes unlike an individual with a healthy weight.
